Success Fact: The Once

The Once

Departures, the latest album from The Once, has achieved new levels of success that would not have been possible without Starmaker support. In Canada, the album peaked at #3 on the singer-songwriter album chart, reached a career high Top 50 debut on the Top 200 chart and broke into the US Top 100 singer-songwriter chart. The album received exceptional support at press with stellar reviews by CBC Music, Exclaim!, the Ottawa Citizen and more, while at radio the band saw further career highs spending eight consecutive weeks on the !earshot (Canadian college) national Top 50 chart peaking at #19, as well as reaching #4 on the !earshot National Folk/Roots/Blues Top 10 chart. Additionally, the Newfoundland folk trio received a 2015 Juno nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group - their second in this category.

The band has also been able to build their international fan base due to Starmaker funding for touring and marketing outside of Canada. In one year, their Facebook presence has grown 426%, from 3,298 (predominately in Canada) to 14,039 fans across Canada, the UK, US and Australia. They toured Australia, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, the UK and the US supporting worldwide multi-platinum selling artist and label-mate Passenger. These opportunities, supported by additional marketing initiatives, enabled the band to return to these markets for their own successful headlining tour. The combined effect of this international marketing and touring has helped establish a solid foundation that will be used to aid The Once in their continued growth.
