Since June 2019, the Radio Starmaker Fund has been an incredible support for Dominique Fils-Aimé’s career development. It significantly helped to keep the momentum going and grow her audience across territories during the last year and a half.

Following the release of her most recent recording, Stay Tuned!, she had the chance to perform nearly 40 shows all across the province of Quebec, which played a key role in boosting her audience in her native province and firmly establish her presence in the industry as a renowned singer-songwriter. From smaller venues of about 200 seats when she began to take the stage, she is now booked in larger venues of over 800 seats.

The Radio Starmaker Fund allowed her to go on her biggest tour yet by performing at major jazz festivals across Canada during the summer of 2019. This remarkable tour has generated meaningful traction for her music and popularity all around the country, leading to interviews with local and national media, in-person meetings with the public as well as with industry professionals.

The next step was to develop her presence in the European market. The current pandemic put a halt to everything, but these two tours were directly supported by Radio Starmaker funding to make them possible. We have no doubt that we will be able to make up for this loss in the near future.

Dominique Fils-Aimé won prestigious prizes in the last year including the JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, the Félix for Jazz Album of the Year at the ADISQ Gala, in addition to being shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and featured among the 19 best Canadian albums of 2019 from CBC. The Radio Starmaker Fund has generously supported Fils-Aimé’s career development, be it by funding album promotional campaigns or touring activities in various markets.
